ES | Me intrigaron siempre los retratos hablados realizados para investigaciones policiales, donde quien esta siendo representado no es visto por quien lo realiza, y solo tiene una descripción a partir del recuerdo de un testigo. Es una forma inversa al retrato tradicional al que estamos habituados, donde lo representado se encuentra presente en el momento de su representación, ya sea una foto, una pintura, una escultura, etc. Primero esta el objeto, luego su representación.
En el caso del retrato hablado, primero esta la memoria, luego su representación y luego se intenta encontrar a su representado. Es curioso como al intentar dar cuenta del rostro de un individuo singular el resultado son retratos muchas veces impersonales, donde las diferencias entre la realidad y la representación resultan inquietantes. La memoria parece ser siempre algo vivo y móvil que se resiste a formar imágenes fijas.
Declaración de apariencia es una galería de retratos realizados a partir de respuestas anónimas a un cuestionario sobre características morfológicas del rostro. El custionario es un multiple choise online (a través de GoogleForms) de características visuales del rostro para completar por el retratado. Las planillas son anónimas para no condicionarme a la hora de realizar los retratos.
Cada uno de nosotros es singular, es igual solo a si mismo, ¿hasta que punto nuestra singularidad esta en el rostro?, ¿podemos dar cuenta de una persona desde su descripción visual?, ¿no hay muchísimos individuos semejantes que podrían tener la misma descripción genérica?, ¿Cual será el resultado de confrontar la representación del rostro con el rostro representado?
El proyecto es un experimento que intenta poner a prueba las relaciones entre realidad y representación, percepción y descripción, descripción e interpretación.
ENG | I was always intrigued by the facial composites made for police investigations, where the person that is being represented is not seen by the person doing the portrait, and only has a description based on the memory of a witness. It is an inverse form to the traditional portrait to which we are accustomed, where the represented is present at the moment of its representation, be it a photo, a painting, a sculpture, etc. First is the object, then its representation.

The questionnaire is a multiple choise online (through GoogleForms) of visual features of the face to complete by the portrayed. The forms are anonymous to not condition me when making the portraits.
Each one of us is unique, is equal only to himself. Up to what point our singularity is on our face? Can we account for a person only from his visual description? Are there are similar individuals who could have the same generic description? What will be the result of confronting the representation of the face with the represented face?
The project is an experiment that tries to test the relationships between reality and representation, perception and description, description and interpretation.
